The Ralph C. and Sue Quellhorst Leadership Endowment Fund

The The Rev. Ralph and Sue Quellhorst Fund for Leadership Development was established to support the transformational benefits of education and professional development for current employees of United Church Homes and for the support of students to explore vocational opportunities through paid internships with United Church Homes’ communities.

Scholarships are based on availability of funds each year in support of the following:

  • Staff education and leadership development (non-degree opportunities)
  • Pastoral leadership development (CPE and Field Placement opportunities)
  • Minority Leadership development
  • Professional internships (for undergraduate and graduate students)
To qualify:To apply:

For United Church Homes Staff Education and Leadership Development

  1. Be a full time or part time employee of United Church Homes and complete one full year of service in an eligible employment status
  2. Have endorsement of immediate supervisor for professional development or continuing education opportunity

For Pastoral Leadership Development

  1. Be a current or prospective student in the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program of United Church Homes
  2. Be a seminary student or ordained pastor seeking experience working in a senior living setting
  3. Have endorsement of a faculty advisor, field placement office and pastoral staff at the ministry setting

To Propose support for a UCH Internship opportunity:

If you are a UCH employee who is proposing an internship for your community and you would like to request funds from the Rev. Ralph and Sue Quellhorst Leadership Endowment Fund please fill out the form and return it to Rev. Beth Long-Higgins. Requests will be reviewed on a rotating basis and are subject to fund availability.

  • Interns must report to a current employee and that employee must meet the qualifications of the intern’s educational institution’s requirements if the internship is for credit.
  • All internships are subject to the approval of the employee’s supervisor and the community’s administrator or executive director.
  • Interns are subject to pre-employment screening and the HR staff of the community must be notified of start and end dates.
